After An Eternity (Poem)
Notes on disappearance
It feels like an eternity
since I had butterflies settled in my stomach,
since I last saw your smile,
It feels like a generation has passed
since I learned how to disappear in front of you.
Since I had words stacked in my throat.
Courage growing only when I’m away from you.
I’ll look for you on some crossing path,
if we ever pass
not a stranger, just someone I know
with a heart I completely adored.
your face- careless ease has slipped out of view,
if we meet again, laugh with me.
Don’t turn away like you never saw me.
It feels like an eternity,
and I don’t think we’ll meet again,
not anytime soon.
My love for you fades
like the color you always refused to wear.
So, meet me in paradise, leave me there…
rehearsing the words I never said
And I hope I’ll tell you things I kept in my heart
buried.
